DESCRIPTION

Sika® MultiPrimer Marine is a colourless to slightly yellow solvent based primer, which reacts with moisture and forms a thin film. This coating acts as a bond between substrates and adhesives.

Sika® MultiPrimer Marine is specifically formulated for the treatment of bonding faces prior to the application of Sika's 1-component polyurethanes.

AREAS OF APPLICATION

Sika® MultiPrimer Marine is used to improve adhesion on many metals such as aluminium, steel, galvanised steel and non-ferrous metals, on wood such as teak, mahogany, Oregon pine and cork. The primer can also be used to improve the adhesion of Sikasil® sealants and adhesives.

Seek manufacturer's advice and test on original substrates before using Sika® MultiPrimer Marine on materials prone to stress cracking.

This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests on real substrates and conditions should be carried out to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, dust and contaminants. Adhesion on substrates can be improved by adding and/or combining pre-treatment processes such as sanding, cleaning and activating prior to primer application.

Application

Apply a thin but protective coat of Sika® MultiPrimer Marine with abrush, felt, clean lint-free cloth or foam applicator.

Sika® MultiPrimer Marine exhibits thermoplastic behaviour up to 3 days after application, therefore higher temperature or early stress at the bond line should be avoided. The ideal application and surface temperature is between 15 °C and 25 °C.

Sika® MultiPrimer Marine should be applied only once. Care should be taken to ensure that this single application provides an adequately dense coverage. Consumption and method of application depend on the specific nature of the substrates. Seal container tightly immediately after each use.
